What should I expect during the visit?
A typical visit includes a comprehensive examination of your pet in their preferred environment, sheltered from heat, cold, wind, and rain. We are happy to examine and treat your pet either outdoors in your yard or indoors—the choice is entirely yours. However, if intravenous catheter placement is required, a clean environment with good natural lighting will be necessary.
We prioritise stress‑free handling and take the time needed to ensure your pet feels comfortable. This is also why we may occasionally run slightly behind schedule. Please rest assured that we make every effort to arrive on time, as we understand, respect, and value your commitments—just as we do our own.

What if I have a fearful FRACTIOUS pet? What should I do?
We truly hope that being examined in the comfort and safety of their home will help your pet feel less anxious and, therefore, less reactive. We also use gentle, natural techniques to help them settle and remain calm. However, if your pet is very fearful, they may bite as a protective response. Dr P has advanced behavioural training, which is very helpful in these situations.
In some cases, additional measures may be required to keep everyone safe, including your pet. This may involve the use of a muzzle (for dogs) or a towel wrap (for cats) in more volatile or unpredictable circumstances. While certain forms of restraint can increase anxiety, many pets are actually reassured—and therefore calmer—when held securely.
On occasion, particularly when intravenous access is needed (such as for blood collection or drip placement), sedation may be required. This will incur additional costs. To help minimise the need for injectable sedation, the best approach for very anxious pets is to administer prescribed “happy pills” before the appointment. This is known as a Chill Protocol and is often very effective in allowing a thorough examination and treatment.
If you are interested in trying a Chill Protocol, please click on the button below and book a PAP Telehealth appointment online BEFORE your scheduled visit.
In very rare cases, despite all efforts, we may be unable to examine your pet safely or effectively. If this occurs, your deposit will be refunded.

Repeat PrescriptT's & C's

Depending on your pet’s age, medical condition(s) etc..., and the class of medication prescribed, we require follow-up examinations every three or six months to safely continue dispensing controlled medications. This policy is non-negotiable, as failing to reassess pets with chronic conditions can have serious consequences that we are not prepared to risk.
All prescriptions are issued with a three-month expiry. If your pet requires additional medication before their next visit, please email your request to vetenroute@hotmail.com at least one week before you run out.
A $40 prescription fee applies for each script renewal, unless the medication is dispensed during a consultation.
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice for any cancellations or rescheduling.
This allows us to offer the appointment time to another pet and plan our travel route efficiently.
If you do not cancel or reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours before your scheduled visit, your deposit will be forfeited.
Please note that your full banking details are required to process refunds.
Refunds may take up to five days to be returned to your account.
